Pool Report from Tonight’s Houston Rockets at Philadelphia 76ers Game

The Pool Report interview was conducted by Gina Mizell, Philadelphia Inquirer with Crew Chief John Goble following tonight’s Rockets at 76ers game.    

QUESTION: Why was the Tyrese Maxey attempt at the end of regulation not reviewed for goaltending?

GOBLE: By rule, a goaltending would have to be called on the floor in order for that play to be reviewed. In real time the officiating crew felt it was a good blocked shot.

QUESTION: What caused the inadvertent whistle?

GOBLE: When the official recognized the timeout request by coach Udoka, the official then realized that there was no possession at the time and the timeout could not be granted and that resulted in an inadvertent whistle.

QUESTION: And because even though there was a stoppage in play there, because the original call wasn’t goaltending, that’s why you couldn’t then go review after that even though there was a stoppage in play?

GOBLE: Correct
