Pool Report on the Both the Flagrant Foul Penalty 1 called on Aaron Nesmith and the Ejection of Bobby Portis in the Fourth Quarter of Tonight’s Indiana Pacers at Milwaukee Bucks Game

The Pool Report interview was conducted by Jack Maloney (CBS Sports) with Crew Chief James Capers following tonight’s Pacers at Bucks game.

QUESTION:  Why did Aaron Nesmith receive a Flagrant 1 and not a Flagrant 2 for the foul on Giannis Antetokounmpo?

CAPERS: The act of the foul was deemed to be unnecessary and not excessive and therefore flagrant foul penalty 1.

QUESTION: Nesmith received a Flagrant 1 and a technical foul during the incident with Antetokounmpo. Was there any consideration to ejecting him from the game?

CAPERS: No, those are two separate acts and neither warranted an ejection.

QUESTION: What did Bobby Portis do to warrant a technical foul during the incident with Nesmith and Antetokounmpo?

CAPERS: He was deemed by the officials to be the escalator of the activity that followed the foul.

QUESTION:  Why were Portis and Obi Toppin assessed double technicals with 9:13 remaining in the fourth, which led to Portis’ ejection?

CAPERS: For a verbal altercation that they had, and therefore we had a double technical and it was Portis’ second.
