Pool Report on the Technical Fouls Called on Chicago’s DeMar DeRozan and Toronto’s Gary Trent Jr. during tonight’s Toronto Raptors at Chicago Bulls Game

The Pool Report interview was conducted by K.C. Johnson (NBC Sports Chicago) with Crew Chief Tony Brothers following tonight’s Toronto Raptors at Chicago Bulls Game

QUESTION: When DeMar DeRozan drew his first technical foul, was the official review to see if he committed a goal tend, a foul, or to see if he grabbed the net for the call?

BROTHERS: We did not review the play as there was no trigger.  We conferenced as officials and determined that he had grabbed the net and touched the ball while it was still in the player’s hand and by rule that is a non-unsportsmanlike technical foul.

QUESTION: So, that’s why he was not ejected when he drew his own personal technical foul, which was an unsportsmanlike technical foul, correct?

BROTHERS: Correct.

QUESTION: What did Gary Trent Jr. do to draw his second technical foul?

BROTHERS: Gary was assessed his second unsportsmanlike technical foul for an overt gesture directed at the official.
