POOL REPORT ON THE THIRD QUARTER TRISTAN THOMPSON EJECTION:

INTERVIEW CONDUCTED BY CHRIS FEDOR (Cleveland.com and The Plain Dealer) WITH CREW CHIEF KENNY MAUER FOLLOWING TONIGHT’S CLEVELAND CAVALIERS AT MEMPHIS GRIZZLIES GAME

January 17, 2020

QUESTION: Why was Tristan Thompson ejected in the third quarter?

MAUER: “For the physical taunt, slap to the backside of Jae Crowder.”

QUESTION: Did the second technical foul have anything to do with words exchanged between Thompson and Jae Crowder or was it simply the butt slap?

MAUER: “Just simply the butt slap.”

QUESTION: Why did Crowder not receive a second technical foul during that same incident at the free throw line?

MAUER: “Crowder did not say one word during that incident nor did he do anything unsportsmanlike that would have warranted his second technical foul.”

QUESTION: Was the ejection in any way a result of the previous altercation between Thompson and Crowder?

MAUER: “Other than it being Thompson’s second technical foul, no.”
