This is an example of a jump ball violation. Neither jumper may catch the tossed or tapped ball until it touches one of the eight non-jumpers, the floor, the basket or the backboard. Here, #20 of the Utah Jazz taps the ball then catches it.
PENALTY: The ball is awarded out-of-bounds to the opposing team.
