POOL REPORT ON THE OUT OF BOUNDS PLAY WITH 7.8 SECONDS LEFT IN THE FOURTH QUARTER IN TONIGHT’S PHOENIX SUNS AT LA CLIPPERS GAME

INTERVIEW CONDUCTED BY ANDREW GREIF (LOS ANGELES TIMES) WITH CREW CHIEF ZACH ZARBA FOLLOWING TONIGHT’S PHOENIX SUNS AT LA CLIPPERS GAME

June 26, 2021

QUESTION: “Why was there a decision not to review the out-of-bounds call on the Clippers with 7.8 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter?”

ZARBA: “Per rule if the calling official has no doubt on the play then replay review is not used.”

QUESTION: “So that play was not reviewable?”

ZARBA: “The play is reviewable if the official has doubt. In this case there was no doubt on the out of bounds play so therefore replay wasn’t used.”

QUESTION: “Did either team make a request at that point to trigger a replay review?”

ZARBA: “No, that trigger is reviewed by the officials on the floor, and it’s based on, per rule, whether or not they have doubt.”
